The Six Pack

95: Pulling a Biden

  • Carnie Wilson and Lizz Winstead join us for a very girly edition of The Six Pack. First, Ben’s dream is realized as we finally get some quality time with Carnie Wilson from Wilson Phillips. Carnie tells us what it was like finding success so early in life and the insecurities that still stick with her. She also opens up about her born-again Christian bandmate Chyna Phillips and reveals how she deals with Twitter haters. Don’t cross Carnie, that’s all we’ll say!
  • Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead gives us her thoughts on that bully Mitt Romney, and she ain’t messing around. Her new book “Lizz Free or Die” also gives us some personal insight into Lizz’s own life, including her childhood ambition to be a priest.
  • In Trending it was a huge gay week with Obama’s big coming out announcement in support of gay marriage. Have you bought your LGBT Obama-ware yet? Also, did you know that dinosaur farts were heating up the Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago? A new study says it is true, and if it was studied, we believe it!
  • Now it’s your turn to believe in us by listening to the newest Six Pack right now!

94: Lenny and Squiggy

  • Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham from NBC’s ‘Best Friends Forever’ join us to talk about being…best friends forever! What’s it like to co-star, co-write and co-produce a sitcom and still remain friends? (Perhaps calling from separate locations is the key!)
  • Trending this week: Social media skills may be eroding our actual ability to socialize. Is that a problem? And if so, do you have anyone to talk to about it? Google has released its new cloud storage system, but is it worth using if you have to give up your digital rights to intellectual property? We dissect. And finally, Adam Lambert recently spoke out about the gay community not always supporting its own people. We offer up our two cents on the man with the high hair.
  • We also bring back another edition of Werkin’ It, this time with Mark Vogler from Out in the Vineyard. We’ll be joining Mark and many other wine loving gays for Gay Wine Weekend 2012 in Sonoma County in June. Wanna share a couple bottles with us? Click here and find out more.
  • Six Pack 94 is ready for you, so tell your best friend to join you and laugh together. (Or just tweet at them…)

*** Come meet us at Woody’s Bar 1-3pm Saturday 5/5 for live SiriusXM broadcast. We’ll be out and about during Equality Forum’s SundayOut festivities in the gayborhood. Want to know more about Philly’s gay happenings? Check out www.visitphilly.com/gay

93: SoLoMo

  • Comedy legend Richard Lewis joins The Six Pack this week. We somehow managed to get our lines crossed (literally) and gave him the wrong phone number, so this interview jumps off on a neurotic note… as if Richard would have it any other way! Did he curse us out at the end? Hang up on us? Or did we hang up on him? You’ll find out!
  • Trending this week has some good news for alcoholics (congrats), as well as a list of all the new-fangled marketing terms you’re going to need to impress your boss. Don’t worry, ‘plussification’ isn’t as dirty as it sounds. And did you know you can be gay in the video game ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic?’ Just in case being gay in this universe isn’t enough for you.
  • Sabin Blake, a marketing manager for Cadillac, joins us in studio to talk cars, corporate culture, and what it’s like being a cover model! Yes, Sabin was the subject of the cover story “Black and Gay in Corporate America,” which won a 2012 GLAAD award. Sabin is also heavily involved with The Ruth Ellis Center, one of the four places in the country that deal exclusively with LGBT homeless youth.
  • All that, plus a recap of our LGBT Influencer soiree, Ben’s stalking of Carnie Wilson and more. Click play now!

Short: Dita Von Teese

The Queen of Burlesque, Dita Von Teese, joins us for this week’s Six Pack Short. Dita is known worldwide for her fashion, her burlesque shows, and her brassiere. What lies beneath that glamorous, shiny exterior? We talk about her past relationships (remember Marilyn Manson?), her new entrepreneurial ventures, and her love of something hard. You’ll have to listen in to figure out what hard thing that is.

92: The SHTF Episode

  • Our pal Don Lemon swings by this week hot off his hosting of the NLGJA reception. Last time we spoke to Don it was in Joy Behar’s office (So what, who cares?), but this time he swung by our SiriusXM studio to talk about everything from Carson Daly to the shifting trends in media to what that ring is on his finger. Hmm…
  • Tim Ralston from NatGeo’s Doomsday Preppers also joins us and gives us advice about how we should “hope for the best and prepare for the worst.” Do you have a bunker? Do you have guns? Do you have a stockpile of food? No? Neither do we, so the real question is did we get his address!
  • Trending this week: Are you sitting down right now? Well, stop. Sitting can kill you! Also, NYC airports may start fining people for using their cell phones on board plans. And what exactly is the deal with ‘airplane mode’ anyway?
  • So there you have it: a newsman, a prepper and two gay hosts. Stock up on food, get in your bunker, and listen to The Six Pack now!

Spotlight: Alan Thicke

Alan Thicke, aka Jason Seaver from the 80s classic sitcom, ‘Growing Pains,’ joins us for a little psychotherapy. (He played a therapist on ‘Growing Pains,’ remember?!) We talk about life as a sitcom dad, what he’s up to these days, and of course, the latest with Kirk Cameron. And did you know that Alan wrote the theme songs to two other classic 80s sitcoms? There’s only one way to find out which - click play! (Or Google it, but c’mon now…)

Short: Lisa Lampanelli

Lisa Lampanelli joins us for her second go around on The Six Pack. It’s a long way from the comedy clubs these days as Lisa is now dealing with Donald Trump instead of drunk hecklers.  She tells us why she’s better than the competition, how she ended up marrying a white guy and her on-going feud with the Westboro Baptist Church.  All that plus many, many four letter words. Listen now!
